Sukkerhallen is located directly opposite CityCamp Assens Strand. So you can go there and experience something truly unique!
The Story Behind the Sugar Hall
Assens Sugar Factory, established in 1884, was once a large workplace with 250 employees and an annual production of up to 15 million pounds of sugar from locally grown beets. The factory, with its many buildings shaped like an “E”, was a vital part of the city’s industry.
In 2006, De Danske Sukkerfabrikker closed the department in Assens. After a period of renovation, the buildings have been used for various purposes such as city hall, sports arena and police station. The building that now houses the Sugar Hall has been unused until now.
The future of Sukkerhallen
Sukkerhallen is transforming itself from a raw, abandoned factory into Assens’ new, innovative cultural center. Over the coming years, this historic building will undergo a transformation, offering a variety of cultural events and experiences.
Come and experience Assens’ new cultural center under construction and be part of the journey towards an exciting future for Sukkerhallen!
